The king of fashion
The past and the present
Yves Saint Laurent was born in 1936 in Oran, Algeria. After winning the first prize in international competition in 1954, Yves Saint Laurent went immediately to work for Christian Dior. Saint Laurent Haute Couture became designer when Dior died in 1957. Even after a year introduced the trapeze dress in his first collection for Dior. In 1962 he opened his fashion house, La Rive Gauche boutique. Catherine Deneuve has been for many years the favorite, his muse, the image of the woman who enchants.
Saint Laurent frequently uses ethnic themes in his line of clothing, as well as bright colors in contrast with the black.
Although a shy person, Saint Laurent believes he is the last true couturier. He maintains the highest standards of classic cut and tailoring, and receives a standing ovation after every collection is presented.
